He contributes macroeconomic views and insights to the firm’s investment process and engages periodically with clients. Dr. Bernanke is also a Distinguished Fellow in Residence with the economic studies program at the Brookings Institution. Prior to becoming an advisor to PIMCO in 2015, he was Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve from February 2006 through January 2014, and also served as Chair of the Federal Open Market Committee. He was previously Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and held various roles at the Federal Reserve system from 1987-2005. Dr. Bernanke was a professor of economics at Princeton University from 1985-2002, has published articles on a variety of economic issues and is the author of several scholarly books and two textbooks. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from MIT and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
